Abi and Henry, Wednesday 29th July 2026 , Wedding at Bruisyard Hall
Some wedding days are full of those little moments that stay with you long after the day itself has passed. The excited smiles during the morning preparations, the hugs that say more than words ever could, and the way two people look at each other when everything finally comes together.
Abi and Henry’s wedding at Bruisyard Hall was full of moments like these.
Set against the beautiful old brickwork, historic charm and surrounding Suffolk countryside, their summer wedding had a relaxed, romantic feel, with plenty of genuine emotion and lovely moments to capture along the way.
My day began at Bruisyard Hall, where the excitement was already building as Abi got ready with the people closest to her.
There’s always something special about photographing the preparations. Everyone is getting ready in their own way, little things are happening all around the room, and there’s that unmistakable feeling that something important is just around the corner.
Abi had time for a few cuddles and smiles with the younger members of the family, and it was lovely to capture those moments before the day really got going. Her makeup was being finished, the dress was waiting, and the nerves and excitement were all part of the story.
One of my favourite things about wedding mornings is how quickly the atmosphere can change. One minute everyone is chatting away, and the next there’s a quiet moment in front of the mirror as the bride sees herself in her dress for the first time.
Abi looked absolutely lovely in her floral lace wedding dress, with its delicate detailing, soft tulle sleeves and beautiful flowing veil. Her bouquet brought together a gorgeous mix of pastel flowers, with soft pinks, lilacs, blues and whites that suited the summer setting perfectly.
And, of course, there were a few moments to take it all in before it was time to head towards the ceremony.
While Abi was getting ready, Henry was preparing for the day with his family. There’s something equally lovely about photographing the groom’s preparations. The atmosphere is often a little different, with everyone helping each other get ready, checking the final details and enjoying a bit of time together before the ceremony.Henry looked smart in his dark tweed suit, paired with a waistcoat, a floral tie and a matching buttonhole. I particularly liked the moments with his family as they helped him get everything just right.
These photographs are a reminder that the wedding morning isn't just about getting dressed. It’s about the people who have helped shape your life, the ones standing beside you on such an important day, and all the memories that come with them.
Before long, it was time for the two of them to see each other as bride and groom.
The ceremony took place in the hall’s beautiful timber-framed space, with flowers adding colour and a lovely natural feel to the setting. As Abi and Henry came together to exchange their vows, their guests gathered around them to share the moment. There’s always a lovely feeling in the room when a couple finally reach this part of the day. The excitement of the morning settles, everyone becomes a little quieter, and for a few moments, all the attention is on the two people getting married. Then, just like that, they were husband and wife. The smiles said it all as they made their way back down the aisle together, surrounded by their family and friends. It was a joyful moment, and a lovely way to begin the next part of their wedding day.
Once the ceremony was over, we had the chance to explore some of Bruisyard Hall’s beautiful surroundings for a few photographs of the newlyweds. One of the things I love about this venue is the variety it offers. The old brick walls and traditional windows provide a timeless backdrop, while the gardens, trees and open countryside give the photographs a completely different feel.We started with some relaxed portraits around the hall, making use of the characterful architecture. I particularly loved the photograph of Abi at the upstairs window, waving down to Henry below. It’s one of those playful little moments that feels much more like a memory than a posed photograph.Abi and Henry were so natural together. There were plenty of smiles, little glances and moments when they simply forgot about the camera and enjoyed being with each other. Those are often the photographs I love most, because they show a couple just as they are.We took a mixture of wider photographs that captured the setting and closer portraits that focused on the two of them together.
Some of my favourite images from the afternoon were taken as the light began to soften. The sun was low enough to filter through the trees, creating that warm, golden glow that makes summer wedding photographs so special. There was no need to overcomplicate things. A little space to walk together, a chance to stop and look at each other, and a few gentle prompts were all it took to capture some lovely moments.
The golden-hour photographs are always a favourite of mine. The light becomes softer, the colours turn warmer, and everything takes on a slightly different atmosphere. After the excitement of the ceremony and the earlier photographs, it can also be a lovely opportunity for a couple to slow down and spend a few moments together.
Abi and Henry were brilliant in front of the camera, and we captured a lovely collection of images, from close-up portraits full of laughter to quieter moments with the Suffolk countryside stretching out around them.
Their wedding was a lovely reminder that you don't need to fill every moment with something elaborate to create beautiful photographs. Sometimes, the best images come from simply giving people the space to enjoy being together.
Abi and Henry, thank you for letting me be part of your wedding day at Bruisyard Hall.
It was a pleasure to capture so many different sides of your day, from the excitement of getting ready and the special moments with your families to the happiness of your ceremony and those lovely portraits in the summer sunshine.
Bruisyard Hall provided such a beautiful backdrop, but it was the people, the smiles and the little moments in between that made the day what it was.
I hope you both look back at these photographs for many years to come and are reminded not just of how everything looked, but of how it all felt.
Congratulations to you both, and here's to a wonderful life together.
